I received a letter that as per January 1, 2011 they will be charging landing fees and terminal fees again.
The beginning of the end is in sight.
Parking is charged on all aircraft parked that are staying for more than 6 hours on airport grounds.

Note that if your aircraft is owned by an LLC or corporation rather than an individual, you will be charged a $30.00 landing fee (plus $1.50 GST) independent of the size of your aircraft.

Fuel Price Comments 100LL price is from Esso FBO. Esso does not charge ramp or overnight parking fee if you buy a meaningful amount of avgas.
I needed a hangar for overnight. Shell never even gave me the impression that they even tried. Esso, however, were more than accomodating. They called back several times and plugged the airplane in even calling at night to confirm that the engine was warm. Go to Esso!

Local Activities, Sights & Events of Interest to Visitors This was once a flourishing airline airport with dozens of flights per day. Airline flights with more than 9 passengers were banned from the airport years ago after a city referendum.

Past city plebiscites have indicated that most non-aviation city residents want this airport closed and the real estate turned into low-income housing. The current airport fee policy seems designed to hasten that process.

This is all a shame as this is a great airport in a really excellent location.

The airport authority has this to say about this gem of an airport:

"Rich in aviation history and the centre of corporate and general aviation for the Edmonton Capital Region, Edmonton City Centre Airport (ECCA) is located minutes from downtown Edmonton. As the home to Canada's first chartered flying club in 1927 and the first licensed aerodrome in Canada, Blatchford Field, as it was originally known, still displays its proud history with the Heritage Walkway and Edmonton Aviation Museum.

"Both are located on the southern boundary of the airport along Kingsway Avenue and are guarded by the magnificent VooDoo CF-101 on ascent.

"Edmonton Municipal Airport has been renamed Edmonton City Centre Airport (Blatchford Field) and has become a centre of excellence for corporate and general aviation, including small charters, private and company aircraft, training, military, industrial and medevac flights."

During WWII this airfield was known as RCAF Station Edmonton and was home to No. 16 Elementary Flying Training School 1940 active Nov 11-1942 July 17, No.2 Air Observer School active 1940 Aug 5-1944 Jul 14 and No. 4 Initial Training School, both part of No. 4 Training Command. This was Edmonton's contribution to the BCATP.Flightline: Fleet Finch, DHC82C Tiger Moth, and Avro Anson.
