NOTAM: 080099 CYGK PICTON CNT7 AMEND PUB: OPR TO READ: LOCH SLOY HOLDINGS LTD 613-399-9076, 613-393-3152 OR 613-476-3064 REG PPR Be advised that The Central Region Gliding School operates an extensive gliding operation at Picton with up to 6 aircraft operating on both sides of the active runway within 3nm and 3500' ASL. Daily gliding operations are typically in effect June 1st to August 31st annually, usually excluding Sundays. Inbound traffic are encouraged to obtain an update on the status of operations at Picton from Trenton ATIS (135.45 MHz) or Trenton Tower (128.7 MHz). Approaching Picton, pilots are encouraged to coordinate their arrival with "GLIDER GROUND" on the ATF (123.2 MHz). Also please note that this airport is used by numerous other groups for various activities, mainly on weekends necessitating airport closure. Please check NOTAMS carefully! |

This aerodrome was the home of the RAF's 31 Bombing and Gunnery School durng WWII, part of the BCATP. Take in some live theatre, fine heritage homes or a stroll in the park. Picton has many things to offer its visitors. Incorporated in 1837 and named after General Sir Thomas Picton, Wellington’s second-in-command at the Battle of Waterloo, the town of Picton has a rich and historical past. Picton offers excellent shopping facilities, live theatre, fine heritage homes and public buildings, a beautiful harbour with full service marina as well as six municipal parks including the grand Macaulay Heritage Park. As the seat of government for Prince Edward County, it houses the District Court and Land Registry Office. The Crystal Palace, located in the Fair Grounds on Main Street, Picton was built in 1887, and is a scaled down version of Joseph Paxtron's Crystal Palace built in 1851 in London, England.
